Benjamin Reyes

Commissioner Ben Reyes, who formerly served as the Executive Director of the Public Building Commission, was sworn in as a member of the board in November of 2007, representing the City of Chicago. Mr. Reyes is the President and Chief Executive Officer of DSR Group Inc., a privately-owned company that provides construction management services in retail and residential development. He leads a team of construction management professionals who manage and administer planning, design and construction activities for a variety of public and private organizations.

Prior to forming DSR Inc., when Mr. Reyes led the PBC, he was responsible for managing a construction budget of more than $450 million. Under his leadership, the Commission oversaw the finance, renovation, maintenance and construction aspects of numerous facilities for the City of Chicago, the Chicago Public Libraries, the Chicago Police Department, the Chicago Public Schools, the Chicago Park District and Cook County.

As Chief Operating Officer for the Chicago Public Schools, Mr. Reyes was responsible for overseeing the Asset Management, Capital Planning, Regulatory Compliance, Human Resources and School Services departments. Prior to his work with the schools, Mr. Reyes was the Commissioner for the City of Chicagos Department of General Services, where he supervised facilities management and real estate services for all city departments.

Mr. Reyes has also held a number of other senior-level positions within public agencies, including the Mayoral Liaison for Economic Development in the City of Chicago, Field Officer with the Enterprise Foundation in Maryland and Program Director for ASPIRA, Inc. of Illinois.

In addition to his business responsibilities, Mr. Reyes serves as Chairperson for the leadership development organization National Urban Fellows, and he is on the board of First Chicago Bank & Trust.
