Dr. Byron T. Brazier

Dr. Byron T. Brazier was born on March 26, 1950 to Bishop Arthur M. and Isabelle Brazier. He was the second of four children. Dr. Brazier has three sisters, Lola, Janice and Rosalyn.

Dr. Brazier attended Chicago Public Schools and graduated from Doolittle Elementary School,

Wendell Phillips High School, and received his Bachelors Degree from Roosevelt University after first attending Wilson Junior College (Kennedy -King) and Northern Illinois University.

Dr. Brazier also received and Master of Arts in Theological Studies and a Doctor of Ministry from McCormick Theological Seminary.

Dr. Brazier started his professional career in 1972 as a production supervisor at Johnson and Johnson. In 1973, he joined the IBM Corporation as a salesman in their data processing division. He later became a marketing instructor in Dallas, Texas and was promoted to several positions until he left IBM in 1991 as a Business Unit Executive over Public Sector. During his tenure, he was recognized nationally on several occasions.

In 1991, Dr. Brazier opened Brazier and Associates and became the Chief Information Officer for the Chicago Housing Authority where he remained until he joined the Apostolic Church of God as the General Administrator in 1995.

During that time Dr. Brazier was responsible for the church's staff, the implementation of a new auxiliary structure, development of new information's systems, as well as a Systematic Ministry Process for ministerial training and development. Dr. Brazier was elevated to an Assistant Pastor in 1998 and was nominated by the church board and ratified by the congregation to be the next pastor of the Apostolic Church of God in 2004.

Dr. Brazier has been married to his wife Mary for 32 years and his son Byron II was born one year later. Byron and Mary share in the success of their daughter April James, who has given them five grandchildren.

Dr. Brazier is very active in the community and sits on several boards. Dr. Brazier is one of nine Commissioners of the Cook County Sheriff's Merit Board and is a member of McCormick Theological Seminary's Executive Board. Dr. Brazier is also a member of the following institutions: The Olive Branch Mission, The South Side YMCA, The Woodlawn Preservation and Investment Corporation, and Metropolis 2020. Additionally he Chairs the Woodlawn Children's Promise Community (WCPC) and the Woodlawn Neighborhood Communities Program. Dr. Brazier is also very active in the Public Safety arena having been involved in addressing disproportionate minority incarceration within the Cook County Judicial System, was a member of the Governor's Commission on re-entry and in 2008 was asked by the Governor to lead the implementation of the task force report.

Dr. Brazier became the pastor of the Apostolic Church of God on June 2, 2008 upon the retirement of his father, the Bishop Arthur M. Brazier. He committed to the congregation of the Apostolic Church of God that he would be the pastor of the same kind and is committed to His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
