Gerald M. Sullivan
Appointee of the City of Chicago

Gerald M. Sullivan was appointed to the Public Building Commission of Chicago on October 3, 2005, representing the City of Chicago.
Sullivan is the retired business manager of Chicago Journeymen Plumbers Local Union 130, the largest plumbers union in North America. His position required him to chair eight employee trust funds.
Sullivan taught at the secondary level in the Chicago public school system for 16 years and also taught specialized classes during the summer at Purdue University. His experience in public service also includes an 11-year stint as a member of the board of commissioners of the Chicago Park District. His duties with the park district included serving as chair of the capital improvements committee and as a member of the personnel board. For eight years he served as the park district representative on the Northeastern Illinois Planning Commission and he spent his final two years on the board serving as its vice-president.
Sullivan is the recipient of numerous honors, including the Coalition for United Community Action "Man of the Year award, and the Archdiocese of Chicago "Rerum Novarum" award. He also was selected "Community Leader of the Year" by the John Merlo Sports program. In 1996, Sullivan was elected as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention and two years later was honored by the Cook County Democrat party in a salute to the American labor movement.
Active in a number of civic and professional organizations, Sullivan served as general chairman of Chicago's St. Patrick's Day Parade for twelve years. He is a former president of the American Society of Sanitary Engineering, a former board member of the Illinois Council on Vocational Education and served on the ad hoc planning committee for the Harold Washington Library.
Sullivan is a graduate of DePaul University and Governors State University where he earned a master's degree in human development.
