Public Building Commission Board Approves Vander Weele Group To Serve As New Inspector General

New IG Brings Outstanding Credentials, Capacity and Experience to IG Role

CHICAGO - The Public Building Commission of Chicago Board (PBC) today approved the appointment of Maribeth Vander Weele, President of Vander Weele Group to serve as the new PBC Inspector General for a term of two years. The new PBC Inspector General will conduct investigations into allegations of waste, fraud or abuse. The Inspector General will also work proactively with the PBC to strengthen the already robust integrity initiatives implemented program wide, including compliance monitoring measures and the Compliance Hotline.


The Vander Weele Group is an independent corporate investigations firm located in the City of Chicago that specializes in preventing and investigating allegations of fraud and other matters involving employee and vendor misconduct.  Having handled thousands of investigations, Vander Weele Group is an expert in the business process aspect of investigations and reporting.


Vander Weele Group is led by Maribeth Vander Weele, a Certified Inspector General with extensive experience in the areas of ethics and investigations of fraud, waste and misconduct on behalf of various public agencies including the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), City of Chicago and the State of Illinois.


Maribeth Vander Weele is also a Certified Protection Professional, a Licensed Private Detective and Vander Weele Group is a certified women-owned business in the City of Chicago. Ms. Vander Weele previously served as Inspector General and head of Internal Audit for CPS and President of the Illinois Association of Inspectors General. In 2012, Ms. Vander Weele was appointed to the Cook County Ethics Board on which she currently serves.
