From the Executive Director:
I am proud to serve as the Executive Director of the Public Building Commission of Chicago, an agency rich with history and contributions to our communities.
The PBC is a full-service, public developer specifically created by state legislation for the sole purpose of planning, designing and constructing municipal buildings including but not limited to schools, parks, libraries, police stations and fire houses.
Oh behalf of our clients, we build neighborhood anchors that help to make the communities of Chicago and Cook County better and safer places to live. From parks to branch libraries, modern schools built for 21st century learning and public safety, the PBC has developed buildings that have helped to stabilize neighborhoods and serve as a catalyst for more development that has reshaped and revitalized our communities.
The support we receive from our clients and community partners has allowed us to build upon a track record of completing projects on scheduled and within budget. Since 2011, we have completed more than $1.9 billion worth of capital construction projects in the City and surrounding areas.
As a public developer, we are entrusted with public resources and we understand the importance of this responsibility. For that reason, we have the highest level of accountability and transparency in managing and reporting how we spend these taxpayer-supported dollars.
We are proud of the renovated facilities or new, modern building we have delivered on behalf of our clients. These projects, combined with the direct economic impact they have had on our communities, underscore the true role of public development in making our city and county better places to live, work and raise families.
Thank you for visiting the PBC website. I hope you will take time to discover all of the excellent work the PBC is doing and the role we play in the development of strong, sustainable communities.
