    Public Fountains

Drexel Fountain

Part of a continuing neighborhood beautification effort, the City of Chicago and the Public Building Commission teamed up to construct and renovate 18 fountains throughout the city. The city's plazas and radial streets that form triangles are now graced by new fountains, and older fountains were restored or replaced.

Because the fountains will affect the quality of life for a community for years to come, the PBC engaged neighborhood organizations, aldermanic offices, and residents in the planning and design process.

With planters blooming with flowers and, in some cases, new and enhanced seating areas, the fountain plazas are destined to become convenient gathering spots for residents, or peaceful places to read a book or newspaper, drink coffee or eat lunch.
