Minority-Owned Business Enterprise (MBE), Women-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) Commitments |
The Public Building Commission is committed to increasing the participation of minority-owned and women-owned businesses in the construction of public facilities. It is the policy of the PBC to ensure competitive business opportunities for MBE and WBE firms, and to prohibit discrimination in the awarding of contracts. The PBC's minimum goals for participation by certified firms on its projects are 24 percent for MBE firms and 4 percent for WBE firms.
All projects undertaken by the PBC are closely monitored to determine compliance with MBE/WBE goals for the project. Contractors who fail to meet the goals for their project are subject to liquidated damages.
The PBC recognizes MBE and WBE certificates from the City of Chicago.
