Cook County Board President Todd H. Stroger and Chicago Board of Education President Rufus Williams today were sworn in as board members of the Public Building Commission of Chicago, which also paid tribute to the new commissioners’ predecessors.

The oath of office was administered to Stroger and Williams during today’s board meeting by Mayor Richard M. Daley, chairman of the PBC.

Stroger replaces his father, former Cook County Board President John H. Stroger Jr., who was commended during the meeting for the numerous contributions he made to the PBC during his tenure, which began on Jan. 20, 1995.

Williams replaces former Chicago Board of Education President Michael W. Scott, who was recognized for the leadership and service he provided the PBC during his tenure, which began April 24, 2002.

The PBC, which manages government-funded construction and renovation projects for the City of Chicago and Cook County, has 11 seats on its board. Six members represent the City of Chicago, and one member each represents the following: Cook County, the Chicago Board of Education, the Chicago Park District, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and the Cook County Forest Preserve.
