PBC Breaks Ground for new Goudy Campus Park

Students from the William C. Goudy celebrate during a groundbreaking ceremony for the new campus park construction project. Participating in the event are from left: Peter Porr, executive director of the Southeast Asia Center (bearded in glasses), Jeremy Persin (sun glasses), Ald. Mary Ann Smith (48th Ward), Goudy special education teacher and local school council member Ed Zienkowicz, Goudy principal Reynes Reyes, PBC Executive Director Montel Gayles, and Chicago Park District Superintendent Timothy J. Mitchell.

William C. Goudy School is located at 5120 N. Winthrop and the campus park will be located adjacent to the school on the east side. The project, which is being funded by the Chicago Public Schools, Chicago Park District and City of Chicago, has a general construction cost of $725,000.

At approximately. 49,000 sq. ft., the park will consist of landscaping such as trees, shrubs, ground cover, and perennial plantings. It also includes a multi-purpose playing field, ornamental lighting and playground equipment.

Construction is expected to start later this month and is expected to be completed this fall.
