Site remediation, excavation, and foundation work will be completed on the site of the new Kennedy-King College Campus under a $10,375,000 contract awarded today by the Public Building Commission (PBC) Board. The PBC will manage the construction of the new Kennedy-King College Campus on behalf of the City Colleges of Chicago.

Under the terms of the contract approved Wednesday, November 12, 2003, Walsh/II in One Joint Venture will perform site remediation, excavation, and foundation work for the new college campus, to be located at 63rd and Halsted streets.

Walsh/II in One Joint Venture has committed to 30 percent participation in the project by Minority Business Enterprises and 5 percent participation by Women Business Enterprises under terms of the contract, officials said.

The PBC routinely designs and builds new facilities and improves existing facilities for the City Colleges of Chicago. Mayor Richard M. Daley serves as chairman of the PBC.

Other actions taken Wednesday by the PBC Board are listed on the PBC's web site at www.pbcchicago.com.
