Green Building – The Nuts & Bolts for Contractors

PBC Alert 07-018 The Public Building Commission of Chicago encourages contractors to attend “Green Building – The Nuts & Bolts for Contractors” a one day event presented by Wilbur Wright College and The U.S. Green Building Council – Chicago Chapter. The Workshop is designed to educate the construction community about green building procedures and strategies, the LEED® rating system and the requirements that need to be met on the construction site and in the office to achieve a certified structure. Workshop Topics include: Why Green Building is important – market forces, economics, building codes, policies and incentives. The Green Building Team and the Contractor’s Role in the following: Sustainable site construction methods Considerations of energy efficiency and water efficiency Building commissioning Construction waste management Procurement and documentation of green building materials Construction for good indoor air quality Documentation for LEED® credits Instructors for this Workshop include LEED® Accredited contractors and architects who are active members of the U.S. Green Building Council Chicago Chapter and who have extensive experience in designing, building, commissioning and documenting green and LEED® buildings.
