Advertisement for Bids: Contract C1602 – Kenwood Academy High School Link and Mechanical Project

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Public Building Commission of Chicago (PBC) has invited all Class A Prequalified firms to bid on PBC Contract C1602, Kenwood Academy High School Link and Mechanical Project.

The Kenwood Academy High School Link and Mechanical Project is located at 5015 South Blackstone Avenue, Chicago, Illinois.

The project scope is anticipated to include but is not limited to a new approximately 4,250 sq. ft., enclosed connection between the main Kenwood Academy campus and the Canter building. This will provide a physical connection thereby facilitating a more cohesive campus with student interaction and community engagement through the associated site enhancements. The existing parking will be relocated to accommodate the new link which will also necessitate site restoration. Site development scope will include reconfiguration of the northern parking lot, added walks, relocation of the existing batting cage, new driveway apron, and associated landscaping.

Work within the existing school building will include replacing the pool HVAC mechanical with a dehumidification unit and replacing the AHUs in the boy’s and girl’s gymnasium and locker rooms in the athletic wing of the school. The new AHUs will also provide cooling for those areas. The new systems will be integrating into the school’s existing BAS system. Electrical upgrades are expected to accommodate the new mechanical equipment. Other renovations include conversion of the boys locker room into the athletic training room.

The project will also include site improvements for landscaping and access walkways.
