CONTRACT DETAILS

The Public Building Commission of Chicago (PBC) has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for design-build services pursuant to the requirements of the Public Building Commission Act (50 ILCS 20 et seq.) (the Act). The Commission will use a two-phase procedure for the selection of the successful design-build entity. Phase I of the procedure will evaluate and shortlist the design-build entities based on qualifications, and Phase II will evaluate the technical and costs proposals for the following design-build project:

Submittals Due: Phase I Submissions must be delivered by Friday, April 5, 2013 at 10:00am to the attention of Rosalinda “Rusty” Castillo, Public Building Commission of Chicago, Richard J. Daley Center, 50 W. Washington Street, Room 200.

Pre-Submittal Conference:
A Pre-Submittal Conference to be held on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 2:00pm at the Richard J. Daley Center, 50 West Washington Street, Room CL 115.

Project Brief Description:
The Project is a new Chinatown Branch Library at 2100 South Wentworth Avenue to be designed and constructed in general accordance with the Chicago Public Library design guidelines and may include on-site parking, landscaping, increased seating capacity, enhanced collections spaces, expanded public technology, free Wi-Fi, designated spaces for children and teens, a community room, and meeting space.

The total building area is anticipated to be approximately 18,000 GSF. The Project Budget for Design / Build Services is estimated to be $8,350,000.

The PBC and the City of Chicago will require quality construction that is durable, cost effective, beautiful and environmentally sustainable. The building shall achieve minimum USGBC LEED Gold rating for building and site development.
