PBC Awarded Certificate Of Achievement For Excellence In Financial Reporting by Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA)

Award Represents Highest Standards In Government Accounting and Financial Reporting.

The Public Building Commission was awarded the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the FY2009 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).

The award is given to government units and public employee retirement systems whose CAFRs achieve the highest standards in government accounting and financial reporting.

The PBC’s award was announced by GFOA on February 22, 2011. This is the first time the PBC has achieved this honor.

“This certificate of achievement represents the Public Building Commission’s efforts to improve, streamline and make transparent its financial reporting systems,” said PBC Executive Director Erin Lavin Cabonargi. “We are very proud to be recognized for these efforts as it carries out our responsibility to be good stewards of the public fund.”

The Public Building Commission of Chicago manages construction and renovation projects for the City of Chicago and its sister agencies. Mayor Richard M. Daley serves as the PBC’s chairman.
