The Public Building Commission this week voted to retain Arthur Andersen LLP, 33 W. Monroe St., to conduct the audit of its Year 2001 financial statements.

It will be the sixth year that Andersen has audited these documents to certify their accuracy.

“We are very comfortable with the accuracy and professionalism of the audits we have received from Andersen’s Chicago office,” said Mayor Richard M. Daley, who also chairs the PBC.

The estimated fee for the Year 2001 audit is $100,000.

When the audit is completed and accepted by the PBC board, the entire Year 2001 financial statement will be posted in its entirety on the PBC’s web site; the Year 2000 statements were posted last October and remain available to the public.

Andersen’s work for the PBC is entirely related to the agency’s annual financial statements; the firm does not perform any management consulting services for the PBC.

All board actions, including the awarding of contracts such as this, are posted on the PBC’s web site within one hour after each meeting. The web site address is www.pbcchicago.com.
