Taylor-Lauridsen Park Fieldhouse

LEED Certified: GOLD

Mayor Daley cut the ribbon opening the 18,500-square-foot fieldhouse on December 12, 2009. The fieldhouse features:

  • Competition size gymnasium,
  • Fitness and club rooms,
  • Locker rooms with showers and
  • Administrative support offices.

The building will be constructed using pre-cast concrete panels, masonry brick veneer and glazed curtain wall system. The surrounding area will be developed to include a universally accessible play-lot, parking, landscaped areas and baseball field improvements.

LEED Features: The entire structure will incorporate various Sustainable Design elements and materials to achieve the PBC’s goal of LEED “Silver” Certification. The mechanical systems are being designed to include features that will exceed the Chicago Energy Code and LEED requirements. The building’s primary mechanical system will be geothermal with a heat recovery system.

Jesse Owens Park Fieldhouse

The 18,500-square-foot Fieldhouse design includes:

Mark T. Skinner West Elementary School

LEED Certified GOLD

This project will implement the ‘L’ shaped prototypical design to serve 742 students, ranging from Pre-Kindergarten through 8th Grade. This 101,000 SF, three-story, steel frame and masonry construction building will include science, computer, music, and art classrooms, in addition to library, gymnasium, and dining facilities. The site will include a parking lot with 28 spaces.

LEED Features: A historic water tower will be reused to store roof runoff water for irrigation of the landscape. This project will achieve the PBC goal of LEED “Silver” Certification.

Bontemps School Campus Park

The Campus Park site improvement is a 2.6 acre site. The old playground equipment set, the existing asphalt surface and the street closure of Elizabeth Street will be demolished in order to provide an open field with green space at the site. It will consist of the following amenities:

  • Landscaping with shade trees,
  • Flood lighting,
  • Ornamental fencing,
  • Benches,
  • Trash receptacles,
  • Playground equipment for ages 2-5
  • Playground equipment for ages 5-12, and
  • 2 full basketball courts with basketball hoops.

Along with the site improvement, the existing parking lot will be resurfaced.
