PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Public Building Commission of Chicago (PBC) has invited all General Contracting firms (including firms proposing to have a controlling interest in Joint Ventures) to bid on PBC Contract C1630, Sherman Park Branch Library – Repairs and Renovations.
Sherman Park Branch Library is located at 5440 South Racine Avenue, in Chicago, Illinois. The project consists of building renovations to an existing facility including but not limited to: Exterior scope for roof repairs and replacement, façade selective tuck-pointing, exterior signage, exit stair well enclosures, ADA flatwork, and associated site improvements. Interior scope for ADA signage, ceiling and wall repairs, restroom upgrades, new staff lounge, new exterior doors/frame/hardware, new circulation desk, new BAS system, new mechanical system, and new folding operable partition.
Contractor will be required to prepare a Phasing and Logistics Plan within 30 days of issuance of the Notice to Proceed (NTP) for review and approval, prior to the mobilization and commencement of any Work.
Contractor shall provide critical submittals, including mechanical equipment (RTUs and BAS) and operable partition within sixty (60) days of issuance of the NTP. Contractor shall be responsible for obtaining any required CPD access permits.

On Thursday, July 16, 2026, PBC will host a Non-Mandatory Virtual Pre-Bid Meeting at 11:00 a.m., and a Non-Mandatory Virtual Technical Review Meeting at 11:30 a.m. on ZOOM virtual meeting platform.

BID OPENING:
Sealed bids shall be received electronically by Dee Taylor, Contract Officer at: dee.taylor@cityofchicago.org and pbc-procurement@cityofchicago.org, by 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. A Public Bid Opening, streamed on the PBC YouTube channel, will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m.
